DR. BRENDA CAMPBELL
EDUCATOR/COLLEGE INSTRUCTOR
1973-University of Washington-BA
1977-San Diego State University-MA
2002-University of San Diego-Ed.D
I am running for Board Seat D on the San Diego Community College District
Board of Trustees.
I am a leader and a strong believer in education. I have over
twenty years in the academic arena. I have
taught at middle to higher levels of the
educational ladder. I feel that I am well
qualified to be a member of the San Diego
Community College District Board of Trustees.
Served on the WASC Accredition Leadership Team.
Assisted with the development and writing of an
Assessement and Evaluation component of the WASC
Self-Study Plan. Designed and implemented a
literacy program for high risk students. Worked
on Community Advisory Boards. Honored in Who’s
Who Among American Educator five consecutive
years. 2005 received the Most Influential
Teacher Award.
The San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) is the second largest
community college district in the state of
California and one of the largest districts in
the United States. The mission of the San Diego
Community College District is to provide
accessible, high quality learning experiences to
meet the educational needs of the San Diego
community.
I will work to design and establish a formula that will increase the
equalization and fair distribution of funds for
the San Diego Community College District.
Community Colleges benefit all aspects of
Society. Currently there is a need to establish
a formula that will provide assistance to
students to enhance their ability to attend San
Diego Community Colleges.
For every one dollar spent on a community
college, the college generates $3.00 dollars
back to the state budget as millions of
graduates earn better wages. Community Colleges
provide entrance to a college that gives any and
all students the opportunity to have a better
life and become tax–paying citizens.
I will work to ensure that there are more
fulltime, well trained, qualified faculty who
meet the needs of students of the 21st Century.
There needs to be an increase in full-time
faculty. There should be an implementation of
the 75-25 rule in all Departments.
I will work hard to ensure that there are
sufficient Basic Skills classes to assist
students in earning their degrees.
Community Colleges are open door colleges. Many
of our College students are entering college
with a lack of knowledge of Basic Skills.
